Gridcast - Using the Grid in Television Programme Broadcasting


This is a grid project that is outside the usual scientific and engineering domains; it is based on the media industry and broadcast technology in particular. The partners are the BBC and its Nations and regions, British Telecom and the Belfast eScience Centre. The BBC will provide data and facilities associated with programme production and distribution; British Telecom will provide high-bandwidth connectivity between the BBC and BeSC and data warehousing capability; and BeSC will provide the knowledge and expertise in grid computing. The project will deliver a prototype programme distribution grid
