Grid Enabled Integrated Earth system model

GENIE

Led by Professor Paul Valdes at the University of Reading it includes modelling experts from the University of Reading, the Southampton Oceanography Centre, University of East Anglia, and the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology at Wallingford. It draws upon the Grid Computing and componentisation frameworks from the London e-Science Centre at Imperial College and the regional e-Science Centre at the University of Southampton. Over the three years the project will: Develop a fast, scalable, grid enabled, modular 3-D Earth systems model. Use the distributed modelling system to test hypotheses concerning key processes and mechanisms in climate simulation. Demonstrate transparent Grid access to the model and simulation data sets.
