Scottish Health Informatics Platform for Research

The SHIP project has been funded by the Wellcome Trust, EPSRC, ESRC and the MRC to develop an e-Infrastructure for secure access to clinical data sets for research purposes. Working in close collaboration with the NHS this project aims to show how a variety of clinical research challenges can be addressed, e.g. research into diabetes and environmental factors in epidemiological studies. The project involves a collaboration between the universities of Dundee, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow with NeSC Glasgow responsible for one of the approaches supporting secure, seamless, user-oriented access to federated clinical data.
