iX-Grid

iX-Grid

The collaborators in this project are the Manchester Visualization Centre (MVC) and iX Imaging plc. The project will produce a sophisticated medical visualisation environment, integrating emerging Grid components with state-of-the-art visualisation and image processing software. The project will address the following key issues: 1.Providing a cost-effective route that facilitates use of Grid technology by a high-tech SME. 2.Use of digital certificates as an enhanced means of authentication in a medical environment. 3.Investigating the use of a Web Services model to provide access to different levels of high performance functionality for application development. 4.Identify the bottlenecks and technology barriers that prevent easy uptake of the Grid in the medical applications domain. 5.Integration between Grid middleware and high performance visualisation software.
