Application of GRID techniques to the monitoring and management of key data associated with major Civil Engineering Sites



This document is intended to describe the product and project approach to a civil engineering application of GRID technology. The end product will be a prototype system responsible for the collection, distribution and visualisation of data collected from civil engineering sites or from infrastructure monitoring schemes. GRID technology has a major role to play in such schemes coming from the need to collect, process and store extremely large volumes of site data. Grid technology would provide the primary route for rapid dissemination of data between distributed collaborators and decision makers, allowing rapid responses to key site events.
