Op3D-Grid

Op3D-Grid

The Op3D-Grid project will provide a state-of-the-art system for remote visualisation, interaction, and collaboration with patient specific 3D data in a hospital operating theatre. Initial work has already been carried out between MVC and the University Department of Surgery to provide the core visualisation requirements.

The Op3D-Grid proposal will improve and refine initial work, and extend functionality to provide a fully functional tool for the surgeon including transparent support for scheduling interactive visualisation across the Grid, dealing with secure access to patient data, and providing failsafe support.

The main objectives of the project are as follows:

  • 1. Build a Grid-enabled surgical visualisation system for use in theatre.
  • 2. Integrate the concept of Visual Area Networking technology within a Grid infrastructure.
  • 3. Build an effective UI to the system.
  • 4. Support remote collaboration of the visualisation.
