Abstract: Grid enabled web-portals have been developed for protein crystallographic structure determination. The project integrates key services provided by leading UK e-Science, protein and synchrotron laboratories. Automation, processing speedup and monitoring of data quality collected on a synchrotron beam-line is essential. These requirements are well suited for HPC, Grid and portal technologies. Additional e-Science challenges include interfacing with robotic hardware and tracking of samples between multiple sites. A comprehensive data model has therefore been developed to allow information exchange and communication.
