Abstract: We have developed a novel software solution aimed at making it simpler for bioscience researchers to annotate and publish their research data. The first part of this solution is a desktop application (“Catalyzer”) which lets researchers structure their data at source, creating custom XML documents and schema without having to become programmers. The catalogues are then simpler for other researchers to " Integrate As Required” to build federated data sets. We view widespread data sharing using such a system as critical for progress in systems biology and neuroinformatics.
