Abstract: The recent QCDgrid software, funded by the GridPP (PPARC/EC) project, will be discussed, along with our experience of constructing a pan-European datagrid using QCDgrid during the EC-funded ENACTS Demonstrator activity. QCDgrid was written to handle QCD data, however, we have found QCDgrid to be an excellent tool for managing data/metadata in general, across the grid, once the highly non-trivial task of setting up the underlying technologies (e.g. Globus, firewalls, etc.) has been achieved.
