Abstract: A Web service business process execution (business session) is composed of a number of Web service instances (session partners), executing on different platforms. Therefore, a standardised instance identification and verification mechanism is needed to benefit the management of instance-level communication. Furthermore, the coordinating Web services may be developed by different organizations which have their own rules for defining exception types. When an error is raised within a session, how the exception handling mechanisms of different session partners can cooperate correctly to handling the exception is a big challenge. We discuss the issues in these fields, and detail our proposed solutions
