Abstract: As a consequence of advances in computational approaches that exploit grid technologies along with high performance codes and platforms, it is now possible to perform meaningful simulations that can address challenging problems in computational biology at the level of detail required. We will present details of how the RealityGrid steering framework, coupled with a WS compliant hosting environment is utilised to increase our understanding of DNA translocation across protein nanopores in lipid membranes. We will also discuss the infrastructure used, with special focus on the advanced network connections required for real time visualisation and steering.
