Abstract: The ability for thousands of hospitals to store mammograms has obvious advantages for diagnosis. The grid will do this as well as giving authorised medical personnel unprecedented access to patient records and will reduce the need for costly film X-rays. This article outlines the prime advantages of the grid in this field.
