Abstract: This paper describes in detail extensions developed for the WSRF::Lite Grid resource container to provide a flexible and extensible role-based authorization and access-control mechanism. This is achieved by using techniques similar to those used in aspect-oriented programming as it is recognized that authorization is a process that should not be implemented in the main body of code and is a crosscutting concern. As a result, the solution meets the requirements of being non-prescriptive about the type security token used and, most importantly, `non-intrusive' as the extensions do not require the modification of the existing WSRF::Lite container or application code.
