Abstract: The volume of data to be processed in the world quadruples every 18 months, when compared to the fact that available performance per processor only doubles we have the implication that the traditional view of data moving to processors is becoming increasingly inappropriate. Also, data is becoming a resource with value and there are restrictions in transporting it through different countries. The Datacentric Grid Project is built on these premises.
