Abstract: Adaptive mesh refinement, or AMR, acts like a 'numerical microscope' which allows researchers to focus in on the most important areas of a specific problem which will ultimately lead to its solution. Applications of this are diverse and include: airborne substances in the atmosphere; supernovae; dendritic crystal growth and also designing future generations of particle accelerators.
