The goal of this workshop is twofold. It aims to connect the middleware developers of the UK with the BIRN infrastructure, e.g. myGRID, to better integrate with its hardware and software architecture. It aims also to find biomedical use cases that can benefit from the BIRN infrastructure recently setup in the UK. These include computational and data integrating projects that cope with data intensive research, such as neuroscience, biomedical imaging and spatio-temporal atlas-based databases.

The meeting will be split into two parts. The first part on day one will be presentations of the BIRN insfrastructure in the context of the research interests and middleware interests of the the Edinburgh and Manchester groups. The second part will consist of breakout sessions to discuss specific issues, middleware developments, research projects and the evaluation process of the BIRN node infrastructure.

The first part will be day 1, 10:00 to 15:00 (including lunch). The second part will start with a discussion on the first day 15:30-17:00 and continue on the second day, concluding at 15:00. Participants should indicate which parts of the meeting they wish to attend.

Target audience
