About the Conference

This Closing Conference of the ESLEA Project aims to:

  1. Provide a forum for the dissemination of research findings and learning experiences from the ESLEA project.
  2. Enable colleagues from the UK and international e-Science communities to present, discuss and learn about the latest developments in networking technology.
  3. Raise awareness about the deployment of the UKLight infrastructure and its relationship to SuperJANET 5.
  4. Identify potential uses of UKLight by existing or future research projects

Draft Programme

We are currently accepting abstracts and the conference programme will be confirmed following the submission deadline. The following topics above are indicative of the scope of the conference:

  1. Control plane mechanisms, e.g. circuit reservation
  2. Network protocols research, e.g. DCCP and high speed TCP
  3. ATLAS particle physics experiment
  4. CDF particle physics experiment
  5. Radio astronomy, e.g. e-VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometry)
  6. High performance computing
  7. e-health, e.g. Integrative Biology application.
  8. Other uses/potential user of UKLight

The conference dinner will be held on the 27 March 2007 at 19:30 in the George Hotel.

Call for Abstracts

Abstracts are invited on the topics relevant to the conference objectives. Please submit your abstract in MS Word, pdf or plain text format to Colin Greenwood (coling@nesc.ac.uk). The abstract should contain title, authors, affiliations, summary and indication of whether you are submitting for presentation or poster.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 16 February 2007. Notification of acceptance will be sent to authors by 26 February 2007.

Conference papers will be printed in hard copy and published online in the Proceedings of Science (http://pos.sissa.it/).

Registration

There is a delegate fee of £95 to attend this conference, which includes two lunches, teas/coffees on all days, conference dinner and conference proceedings. WiFI will be provided for the event free of charge.

About the Venue

The conference is being held in the magnificent George Hotel, Edinburgh - a two hundred year old grade II listed building which offers excellent facilities following completion of a major £12 million refurbishment in summer 2006.
