The workshop will:

  • Review the implications of the UK Energy Research Centre’s (UKERC) Energy 2050: Building a resilient and low carbon energy system.
  • Understand the strengths and weaknesses of energy system models and marginal abatement cost curves (MACCs) used by UKERC and the UK Committee on Climate Change.
  • Investigate the real costs and benefits faced by government, public authorities, business and individuals, to provide insights about how we prioritise our limited resources to reduce emissions.

Target Audience

The workshop is designed for policymakers, NGO and industry analysts, and academics. The outcome will be a better understanding of the links between energy system models and policy, and how costs of Climate Change Bill emission reduction measures and activities will fall on different groups in society.

Programme

This event is provisionally scheduled to start at 09:30 Tuesday 23 June 2009 and close at 17:00 on Tuesday 23 June 2009.
