Organiser: Rob Allan

[Return to Programme List]

We are pleased to announce that we are holding a Portals workshop in Edinburgh 28-29/1/2002 primarily for UK and European participants. The aim of the meeting is to exchange information about the technology being used in funded e-Science projects to build Grid Service based Application Portals. This may include discussions of Globus and other middleware, CoG kits, Web Services, event and component schema definitions, etc. We believe that work of the Grid Computing Environments Research Group within the Global Grid Forum in this area is an important step in building the "information layer" of the Grid which will be exploited for complex applications built from integrated computer resources, data, instruments and software components. This announcement will be circulated to existing members of the GGF GCE-RG and other invited participants. It is not an open meeting, but please mention it to others who are active in the field if you believe they should take part in the discussion. We will invite a number of groups to make short (10-minute) presentations on topics of interest and follow up with in-depth discussions. We particularly wish to involve representatives of the UK Research Council Pilot Projects and those already developing Grid-based application portals.
