Biography and Research Interests

Clive Davenhall is a programmer at the NeSC in Edinburgh. Since April 2008 he has worked on the NanoCMOS project. He joined the NeSC in February 2005 and has since worked on (in chronological order) the ESLEA and NextGRID projects. Much of this work has been based in Web services and Java.

Prior to joining the NeSC Dr Davenhall worked at the Institute for Astronomy at the Royal Observatory Edinburgh for many years. He was involved with numerous projects, most notably the long-running and much-missed Starlink project.

Dr Davenhall has degrees in Astronomy from the Universities of London (University College) and St Andrews. He is a Member of the British Computer Society (and hence a Chartered IT Professional, CITP) and a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.

In his spare time Dr Davenhall is a founder-member of the Society for the History of Astronomy and edits its thrice-yearly Newsletter. By way of a change he is also a regular attender at concerts given by the Georgian Concert Society.
