CERN LHC Startup on 10th September 2008Everything is now ready for the first injection of proton beams into the LHC on the 10th September 2008 . CERN will webcast the startup on their first beam page.
One of the tasks of this biggest experiment of all time is to hunt for the Higgs Boson which is the only unobserved particle in the Standard Model and generates mass in an otherwise massless theory. Peter Higgs is Emeritus Professor in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh.
