Research Council's Review of e-Science

The Research Council's Review of e-Science will take place in December 2009. This review is one of a series organised by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) in conjunction with the learned societies, to provide an independent assessment of the quality and impact of UK research. The review is being conducted in conjunction with all Research Councils and guided by a UK Steering Committee.

The EPSRC wishes to recruit a panel of internationally leading researchers (from academia, industry, etc.) from outside the UK, to benchmark the strengths and impact of the UK e-Science programme compared to those found across the world, highlighting any gaps or missed opportunities. The panel will interact with a wide range of UK researchers and receive supporting data to help reach their conclusions. In order to obtain an independent view, the EPSRC is seeking individuals working outside the UK, including UK nationals.

The Terms of Reference for the review will be in the areas of:

  • Impact;
  • Research quality;
  • Additionality; and
  • Presentation of findings and recommendations to the Research community and Councils.

Please see the EPSRC's web site for further information and a nomination form: http://www.survey.bris.ac.uk/epsrc/e-scirnom.
