Background to the Report

This consultancy aims to establish the current provision and future requirements for curation of primary research data being generated within e-science in the UK. This includes the e-science core programme but extends beyond this to other e-science research and primary research data and its links to the research process and publication.

The draft report provides a synthesis of findings and make recommendations for future action.

It is hoped the consultation process will raise awareness of the report and the major issues it addresses and provide feedback from researchers and curators to help in its finalisation and implementation.

The consultancy was commissioned as part of the implementation of the JISC Continuing Access and Digital Preservation Strategy 2002-5 and supports JISC involvement in e-Science and the Research Grid, and its partnership with the research councils and other funders in support of research and learning.
